Lisa and Majd - The union of two worlds

When we talk about weddings, we talk about the joys, the celebrations, the hard work and the beauty of the entire event. Rarely do we talk about the “not so fun stuff” and what goes on behind the scenes. Lisa and Majd’s wedding weekend was an inspiration to us in many ways. It was battling of two cultures, religions, and different worlds coming together as one. It reminded us of what we forget at times – that love overcomes all. Lisa is of Bengali Hindu origin, and Majd is Catholic Syrian, but together they are one and have never let the differences overcome the most important thing – their relationship.

We distinctly remember sitting with Lisa and Majd on an early summer night reviewing final details of their timeline and watching the conversation between them. They were so in sync, so respectful of each other’s cultures, and each other’s needs. All they cared about was each other’s happiness. There was no I or me in that conversation, only we. Watching that interaction and many of their interactions over time, defined to us what makes a relationship successful- open and positive communication, and supporting each other.

Lisa and Majd hired M2B to plan and execute their entire wedding. We went through the initial phase of venue scouting and finding something that is true to the style of the bride and groom. After reviewing a few places, the Fairmont Copley was selected. The charm, beauty, and the pure royal elegant look, makes it a stunning backdrop for weddings. When you walk through the Fairmont, the fragrance of a fresh garden instantly relaxes you, and you find yourself enclosed in a beautiful world of your own. We couldn't have found a more perfect venue for Lisa and Majd.

The #samosawedsfalafel wedding week started with Lisa’s Mehendi at the Fairmont Copley on the evening of Friday July 22, 2016. DJ Krups from Boston Sound and Light kept the party pumping with a mix of Arabic and Indian beats. Lisa, who is one the most beautiful brides we have met, looked stunning in her green outfit and luxurious flowing golden brown hair. She looked like a true princess and we are sure Majd was swooning looking at her!

What was going to be a small, simple, little family gathering, turned into a large welcoming party for family and friends. The original plan was not to have any décor for the mehendi as the St. James room is stunning as is, however, two days prior to the wedding, Lisa wanted to enhance the Indian experience. Mint to be was able to create a mehendi inspired look within a few hours and execute the design and decor last minute. Luisa's decorations was able to take our inspiration board and bring it to life where it tastefully balanced the Indian culture with the pre-existing look and feel of the Fairmont. The room was filled with laughter, love, and lots of hip shaking! Our dear friends at Studio 9 were there capturing all the action in the most impactful way.

Manisha from Henna Café decorated Lisa’s hands with such grace.

After the Henna party, Lisa and Majd wanted to have a private intimate dinner with both their respective families. You know..."one last fling before the ring!" Friends and family traveled from near and far to be part of this wedding, and Lisa and Majd wanted to spend some quality time with them. M2B organized two private dinners for both Majd's and Lisa's family allowing them to reminisce on the good times.

Their wedding day started bright and early. The M2B team was on a mission! As we entered the bridal suite at the Fairmont, we saw Lisa getting ready by no one other than Shreni Patel. Even with such a late night and early morning start, everyone was buzzing like bees! For her Hindu ceremony, Lisa chose to wear a traditional red look. Seconds before heading down the isle, we found out Lisa needed to have Jasmine strings in her hair as part of Bengali culture. M2B girls ripped bobby pins out of their own hair and started tying jasmine strings into Lisa’s hair just in time for her grand entrance! Talk about a last minute change!

The baraat entrance was a mix of the Traditional Indian Dhol and Arab chants. We even got the groom playing the dhol as he was entering the hall! A true show stopper for sure.

The ceremony consisted of lots of flowers, Indian music, blessings and prayers. There was even the traditional Arab chant called Zaghrouta which is translated as thrills of joy. The entire scene can be defined as one big EPIC moment.

The Mint to be team met with various florists as well as Shobha Shastry from Alankar to bring Lisa's mandap vision to life and do it within her budget. Lisa wanted a traditional Indian mandap but with all modern royal floral work. M2B collaborated with Shobha Auntie as well as Poppy floral to make this vision into reality. We didn't just want to find one vendor who could get the job done. M2B wanted to find the RIGHT vendor and that meant bringing two master minds together. Poppy Floral even created two life size comparable elephants for the aisle way entrances! Nothing beats a floral team who is there at 5AM setting up!

After the Hindu Ceremony, Lisa and Majd had an outfit change for their Catholic Ceremony held at Cathedral of Holy Cross in Boston. Interesting fact, Majd actually picked out Lisa’s wedding dress. Lisa wasn’t 100% on the look of her outfit, but he was there by her side and going to each fitting to help her pick one out. M2B coordinated all travel logistics of getting their guests from the Fairmont to the Church and back and coordinated various trips for the bridal party. We don't mess around!

Everyone headed back to the Fairmont after the church ceremony to enjoy cocktail hour and to get ready for the reception . Their signature drinks Mo-jito, and Lisa-rita, were a big hit among friends and family. The guests got an around the world cuisine experience as M2B brought the food from both cultures together. We were able to bring traditional Middle Eastern food provided by the Fairmont as well as mouth watering delicious food by Sorabh Kapoor from Masala Art.

Lisa and Majd shuffled into to Party Rock by LMFAO and made their grand entrance. DJ Krups again did an incredible job of killing it on the dance floor and people were rocking and rolling all night long! No expense was spared to keep the kids entertained. M2b arranged for a special room for the children with lounge furniture, tvs, video games, coloring books and their own special meals.

For her reception, Lisa wanted the royal colors of her wedding to be intertwined with pieces of a peacock theme. M2B worked with Poppy floral again for this concept and took the red, pinks and brought them to life by adding peacock feathers. The royal purples against the deep reds made an incredible combination.

Lisa and Majd's wedding was one for the books. It was not just a 2016 highlight, but one of the biggest events we helped coordinate and plan to date, and we wouldn't have had it any other way!
